July 7: Leaving Nice and headed to Paris.

Kids taking a snooze on the longest single leg trip we have on a train, five and a half hours. Brittany is trying to get me caught up on pictures.

Tanner is doing what he does best and Kylie is trying to catch up on some sleep too.

I guess I was tired too. Todd is always taking creeper pictures on me that he thinks are so funny. It was nice that Todd reserved our seats facing each other. This gives you more space and larger tables to sleep on.

I guess the table wasn't good enough. They kids have been saying that I am always frowning when I am asleep. What are you supposed to do when you are asleep. Yes, I suffer from slack jaw. The kids and Todd say it is because y mouth is so stretched out from overuse when I am awake that it just hangs when I am asleep, kind of like my stomach after four kids.

A view of the french countryside we passed through on our travels, beautiful farm and grazing land.

Some hayfields already harvested.

We have arrived in Paris and this is the girls room. Paris is divided up into districts, twenty to be exact. We are in district four. Each has its own flavor and classification. Parisians will often identify themselves with the "arrondissements" in which they live. For example, district sixteenth is known to be ritzy; the twentieth is artsy; and the fourth is sometimes called the "gayborhood". Todd didn't research that part of our stay very well and didn't realize this until we went to dinner. Todd commented that all the bars around were filled with men packed really close together. Why would they all stand like that? The kids had to point out the reason why - there were no women there. Needless to say, we were the only ones at the restaurant with children and four of them at that. I told you he wasn't very bservant, not noticing my haircut is nothing.

Our family room and dining room, it is a very modern apartment.

The view out of one end of our apartment.

Looking down the other way. We have enjoyed our sun and heat but are liking the change of weather, cool and rainy. They have been having a very wet summer and we are not complaining.

First dinner in Paris. As Julia Childs would say, "Bon Appetit!"
