The family in front of the Colesseum on our bike tour.
Brittany and Kylie infront of Circus Maximus enjoying the view.
A beautiful view of the Colesseum.
Two columns brought from The Forum ruins in remembrance of the Twin Towers brought down on September 11.
Another view of the Colesseum from the outside.
Just inside the first sets of columns in the Colesseum.
This is at the 50 yard line in the Colesseum. It is where the Emporer sat during the Gladiator battles. That would be Julius Cesaer.
This is a view under what would have been the floor of the Colesseum. Under here housed exotic animals of all sorts and other Gladiators. Whoever was battling above ground in the stadium would not know where their next rival would pop out of. They were brought to the floor by elevator and hidden behind curtains for the element of surprise. So just because you killed the Rhino didn't mean your day as a Gladiator was finished. You still had something pop out of door number two or three. The thumbs up and thumbs down were used by the 50,000 spectators let let the Emporer know if he should let the Gladiator be killed or live depending on how well he fought. The stadium could be filled and emptied in fifteen minutes. Your season tickets were etched into a piece of pottery with your floor, row, and seat.

I get goose bumps seeing all of this via your adventures. Uncle Greg, Joyce and I laughed and laughed Saturday as Sam read your previous entry. (My internet down at home. Currently at work on laptop.) Stay safe. Mom
