We also visited the Uffizi Gallery today, no cameras allowed again. This gallery houses the greatest collection of Italian paintings anywhere. After visiting The David, Todd and I reconsidered if we should take the boys to another museum for another couple of hours. We gave them the option of returning to the apartment and playing around inside while we were gone. Tyler jumped all over this idea, "Yeah Dad, why do I want to go to another museum. They all look the same. They paint a naked person in the middle surrounded by some dramatic scene." There is some truth to that, but the scenes and nudes do vary slightly to the discerning eye. Works featured in the Uffizi are Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Botticelli. Also included are Durer, Rembrandt, and Rubens. The most important painting in there is the Michelangelo. In fact, it is the only completed easel painting of Michelangelo that has survived. It is titled The Holy Family.
