Traditionally in Italy the craft or trade of your father becomes your own. Some of the family trees date glass blowers back to the 1400's. This factory’s artisans are one of them.

The glass is kept in dishes in the furnace. The artisan dips his long pole which is hollow on both ends and grabs a ball of glass. Inside the kiln, there are additional types of glass and chemicals that give it different looks.

First out of the oven, he is getting a rough shape of the object. This will be a small vase.

After rolling it out, he uses his tools to shape the object. If the object cools to quickly, he will put it back in the kiln for a quick minute to allow the glass to be pliable again. It really looked like he was playing with playdough except for the fact that it was as hot as the Inferno Bus in there.

The finished product.

If you look closely, you can see the start of a horse. He has already pulled the head and ears.

Now, he is pulling the legs. Can you see it?
