This is Trevi Fountain, a baroque avalanche by Salvi completed in 1762. Triton stands atop this fountain with water gushing from 24 spouts and tumbling over 30 different kinds of plants all powered by Rome's great aqueduct system.

For good luck, you are suppose to throw coins over your shoulder into the fountain. Marco said that they pull 14,000 Euro a week out of the fountain. I think it is mostly good luck for the Italians.
